Sally Staples, CFMG
Sally started West Coast Sassy Cats as a professional, house call cat grooming service in October 2010. In January 2013, she attended the National Cat Groomers Institute of America in South Carolina. The two week course of study included 4 written exams: Temperament and Handling; Health and Anatomy; Breeds and Colours, and Business Management. Her average on the written exams exceeded 100%!
After passing the practical exams on the components making up Full Coat Grooms, Lions Cuts, Comb Cuts and Soft Paw Applications, Sally returned home as British Columbia’s first Certified Feline Master Groomer.
Prior to starting up West Coast Sassy Cats, Sally had spent 15 years learning about cats, their health and behaviour (and their owners!) while working as a receptionist, vet nurse and manager at several feline-exclusive veterinary clinics. This background in animal health care helps her provide education and guidance to owners and to spot medical issues in cats before they become problems.
Cat grooming has become a deep passion for Sally. Watching a beautifully groomed cat strut and prance and generally show off after a complete groom brings great satisfaction to Sally, the cat and the owner.
Rob Scott
Rob was trained as a Journeyman Baker, and worked for many years for the Thrifty Foods chain as a bakery manager and supervisor. In 2015, as West Coast Sassy Cats began to grow larger than the house-call-suitcase-model could support, he began a second career as a cat-salon-on-wheels driver. Now mostly retired, he drives Sally on her monthly housecall days, and provides the pick up and drop off services.
He is also a major promoter of the business, and is responsible for contacting the Times Colonist, Goldstream Gazette, CHEK News and BCTV, who all welcomed the opportunity to broadcast the story of BC’s first Certified Feline Master Groomer.
